Emotional Freedom Technique
at VitaLife Center
A simple, powerful way to clear energy and restore emotional balance.
At VitaLife Center, Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT)—also known as tapping—is offered as a gentle, accessible practice to help release fear, anxiety, old beliefs, and chronic emotional pain.
Rooted in ancient energy medicine and adapted for modern healing, EFT works by stimulating key meridian points while focusing on an issue or emotional pattern. The result is a calmer nervous system, a clearer mind, and space for something new to emerge.
Individual EFT Sessions
In addition to group training, Dr. Valerie Rice offers one-on-one EFT sessions, available both in-person and online.
These sessions are tailored to your unique needs, creating space to release emotional blocks, re-pattern old habits, and restore balance. Whether you are addressing trauma, stress, or limiting beliefs, EFT sessions provide safe and effective support for lasting change.
The Philosophy Behind EFT
All emotion is energy. And energy can be shifted.
EFT is based on the understanding that physical symptoms and emotional distress often arise from imbalances in the body’s energy systems. These disruptions can create patterns that keep us stuck, reactive, or unwell.
By tapping on specific points along the energy “highways” in the body (the meridians), coupled with focused, pertinent questions posed by a trained practitioner, the emotional charge surrounding an event changes, softens, and begins to leave one entirely. This is why it is called Emotional Freedom Technique, as one is no longer held captive by their emotions, thus freeing them.
By helping energy flow again, the body remembers what peace feels like. EFT is non-invasive, self-directed, and deeply empowering. You can practice it alone or with the guidance of a trained practitioner. Either way, you’re engaging the body’s wisdom and activating its innate ability to heal.
The Science of Tapping: Why It Works
Real relief backed by research.
Though rooted in energy traditions, EFT has gained increasing validation from scientific studies. Research shows that tapping reduces activity in the amygdala—the brain’s stress and fear center—leading to measurable reductions in anxiety, PTSD symptoms, and even cortisol levels.
- A 2012 study showed cortisol levels dropped by an average of 24% after a single session.
- The Stress Project, which teaches EFT to veterans, reports a 63% average reduction in PTSD symptoms.
- Brain scans and bloodwork reveal real, lasting physiological change after EFT.
What makes EFT unique is that it combines physical stimulation with mental focus. You address the issue and move the energy at the same time.
The History of EFT: From Discovery to Global Practice
An unexpected breakthrough turned into a healing revolution.
EFT began in 1980 with psychologist Dr. Roger Callahan and a client named Mary, who had an intense water phobia. During a session, he asked her to tap on a point associated with stomach energy. Her fear dissolved instantly.
From this moment, Dr. Callahan developed Thought Field Therapy (TFT), which was later simplified into EFT by his student, Gary Craig. Craig made the technique accessible by creating a universal tapping sequence, no matter the issue.
Results are often quicker than traditional counseling. EFT does not require re-hashing or repeatedly going over the issue or event that is problematic. It does, however, help you recognize what you have felt and the limiting beliefs that may have led you there.
Today, EFT is used by millions of people around the world to support healing from trauma, anxiety, physical pain, and more.
